Practical tests with MMT and ROUTE/DASH on the transport layer of ATSC 3.0
Keywords:
MMT, ROUTE/DASHAbstract
MPEG-2 TS has been widely explored by digital TV systems for years but given the appearance of new technologies and the spread of the Internet and streaming services, new methods had to be developed to deliver broadcast content over IP. A historic background is presented for two protocols proposed to the next generation of digital TV, MMT and ROUTE/DASH, as well as their properties. This paper presents a comparison between these two protocols for the modern ATSC 3.0.
